Proposed Va. Division Would Report on Privacy Enforcement
Virginia would establish a Division of Emerging Technologies, Cybersecurity and Data Privacy within the state’s Department of Law, under a bill that Del. Bonita Anthony (D) proposed this week.

The division would report annually on “trends in enforcement, audit findings, and compliance rates under cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI-related laws,” plus “legislative recommendations for addressing emerging challenges and technological advancements,” says HB-2294. The division would also hold public hearings.
