During a NIST webinar, Gilbert said that the list of topics and issues privacy professionals handle has grown steadily in recent years, given the emphasis on individual ownership of data.
Gilbert is helping lead NIST’s Privacy Workforce Public Working Group. The group concluded phase I in April, which resulted in the November release of the Privacy Workforce Taxonomy, Initial Public Draft. Comments are due Friday on the draft document.
Gilbert said once the document is finalized, the working group can move to phase II. The group plans to define work roles, competencies and map task statements to specific knowledge and skill statements in the second phase. Gilbert said NIST expects completion in the third or fourth quarter of 2025.
