CNIL Strategic Plan to Focus on AI, Children's Rights
French privacy regulator CNIL Thursday unveiled a 2025-2028 strategic plan focused on AI, minors' rights, cybersecurity, and mobile apps and digital identity, according to an unofficial translation.

On AI, the watchdog said it will continue clarifying AI's legal framework, engaging with stakeholders and developing audit capacity. Similarly, it plans to address challenges facing minors online by boosting its dialogue with children, parents and the educational system to create a safer digital environment.
Given the numerous cyberattacks that hit large parts of the population in recent years, the CNIL said, it will ensure that organizations take appropriate protection measures and raise awareness of the risks to families.
Last, the CNIL said, it has chosen two technology uses central to people's daily digital lives as priorities. On mobile applications, it will ensure stakeholder compliance and raise user awareness of recommendations it published last year. In addition, it intends to make sure that public and private actors develop and deploy a regulatory-compliant digital identity that respects individual rights.
