Broad Industry Coalition Calls for Federal Privacy Law
Congress should pass a federal privacy law, which would benefit startup compliance and the application of AI throughout the economy, industry groups from several sectors wrote the Senate Commerce and House Commerce committees Tuesday.

Signees included the American Advertising Federation, Business Software Alliance, Computer & Communications Industry Association, Consumer Technology Association, CTIA, Interactive Advertising Bureau, NetChoice, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and USTelecom.
“Congress should adopt a federal privacy framework that fully preempts state laws related to data privacy and security and establish a uniform privacy standard,” they wrote.
They recommended a bill with data deletion rights for individuals, data processing transparency and reasonable data security standards.
