Bricker Graydon Lawyers Say Privacy Patchwork is Real but not 'Mount Everest'

However, the law firm expects an increasing number of privacy rules emanating from the state and federal level, said Knight. At the moment, states have taken the lead, with California setting the most aggressive standards, he added. Other states, like Texas, took a more business-friendly approach to privacy regulations, said the attorney. However, Texas has shown it's “absolutely willing to enforce its ... data privacy law.”
Nancy Magoteaux, another privacy lawyer with the firm, said that complying with various laws and regulations is “not as strenuous as climbing Mount Everest," since there’s overlap and not all necessarily apply to every company.
