The bill aims to stop spam to teachers' email inboxes by “not allowing third-party companies to buy the email lists of our teachers,” sponsor Rep. Trevor Lee (R) said on the House floor. Also, under the bill, teachers wouldn’t need to consent to giving up privacy to obtain third-party apps the school wants, said Lee.

The bill would take effect July 1.
