European Commission Posts Guidelines on Prohibited AI Practices

The European Commission published guidelines on prohibited AI practices under the European Union’s AI Act, the EC said Tuesday. The law’s AI prohibitions took effect Sunday (see 2501070022).

The non-binding “guidelines provide an overview of AI practices that are deemed unacceptable due to their potential risks to European values and fundamental rights,” the commission said. “The guidelines specifically address practices such as harmful manipulation, social scoring, and real-time remote biometric identification.”
