Sen. Katie Hester and five other Democratic state senators filed the “Building Information Guardrails Data Act” as SB-904. Del. Jared Solomon filed the same bill as HB-1089 in the House.
The legislation would create a data broker registry requiring annual registrations and establish a privacy protection and enforcement unit within the attorney general office’s consumer protection division. Also, it would impose a tax on certain data brokers’ gross income.
