Epic adds CLEAR for Healthcare Security
Secure identity company CLEAR will partner with healthcare software company Epic for identity verification, CLEAR announced Monday. Currently under construction in Epic Toolbox, the change would secure patients' access to accounts, it said.

Health systems using CLEAR let patients create, access and recover accounts, which, CLEAR says, enhances cybersecurity practices and safeguards sensitive health information. CLEAR said: There are more than 60 options for verification checks, which health systems can pick from, and existing CLEAR users can instantly verify identity with a selfie. The service, CLEAR added, can be implemented quickly without disrupting existing workflows and strengthens security at vulnerable times like account creation. The identity verification is aimed at reducing the number of healthcare data breaches and costs associated with them, said CLEAR.
Using real-time ID verification, Rush University System for Health "can minimize errors from manual checks and stop identity theft attempts before they happen," said Jeff Guatney, the academic health system's chief information officer.
