Opposition to UK Order Forcing Apple to Provide Encrypted Cloud Continues
Fallout from the U.K. government's decision to force Apple to make available encrypted cloud data continued over the weekend. Internet Society Senior Director of Internet Trust Robin Wilton posted on LinkedIn that "the consensus among cybersecurity experts is clear: 'there's no way to break encryption without making everyone more vulnerable.'"

It's "stunning," Wilton added, that just days after the U.K. National Audit Office reported that the cyberthreat to the country is severe, the government would try to weaken the security and privacy of a service that its citizens, including government employees, rely on.
The Computer and Communications Industry Association warned last week that end-to-end encryption may be the only safeguard standing between Americans' sensitive personal and business data and foreign adversaries (see 2502070040).
