Guthrie Annouces Republican Working Group for Privacy Bill
Rep. John Joyce, R-Pa., will lead House Republicans’ working group for comprehensive privacy legislation, House Commerce Committee Chairman Brett Guthrie, R-Ky., announced Wednesday, as expected (see 2501150064).

“We strongly believe that a national data privacy standard is necessary to protect Americans’ rights online and maintain our country’s global leadership in digital technologies, including artificial intelligence,” they two lawmakers said in a joint statement. “That’s why we are creating this working group, to bring members and stakeholders together to explore a framework for legislation that can get across the finish line.”
Members are: Virginia’s Morgan Griffith, Ohio’s Troy Balderson, California’s Jay Obernolte, South Carolina’s Russell Fry, New York’s Nick Langworthy, New Jersey’s Tom Kean, Texas’ Craig Goldman and North Dakota’s Julie Fedorchak.
