The proposed Georgia Consumer Data Privacy Act is essentially the same as the version that passed the Senate last session, said Sen. Jon Albers (R), one of the bill sponsors, with a few tweaks that come from working with the state's Technology Association as well as TechNet. The bill follows the Virginia privacy law model and includes many exemptions (see 2502060057).

"Data is the modern day oil or gold, and we want to make sure that people's data is protected," said Albers. "This will ultimately protect people's data by making sure they have basic security parameters and controls around them."
