The bill would modify requirements for privacy notices, including on government websites, adjust data breach notification requirements and make other changes to Utah law.

Under one part of the bill, starting July 1, 2027, state agencies would “make a complete and accurate privacy annotation for each record series containing personal data that the state agency collects, maintains, or uses.” If an agency fails to do so by that date, it “may not collect, maintain, or use the personal data.”
