Ranking member Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said she opposed McKernan and three other nominees because they haven’t provided meaningful responses to questions and she has “deep substantive concerns.”

McKernan is “being sent in by co-presidents Donald Trump and Elon Musk to unleash” scammers and fraudsters on American citizens, she said. Democrats have criticized the involvement of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency at CFPB, a leading regulator on privacy issues specific to financial institutions, and other agencies. Warren noted the FBI hasn’t completed its background check on McKernan.
