W.Va Privacy Bill Models Va. Law by Design, Says State Rep
West Virginia should have a comprehensive privacy law just like the one in Virginia, state Rep. Daniel Linville (R) said at a House Energy Committee hearing Thursday.

With HB-2987, Linville modeled Virginia’s data protection law “identically,” he said. “I would view any amendment as a friendly amendment, one which I could support, if we've missed anything that Virginia had done."
Linville noted that his bill would have enforcement only by the state attorney general. He said it is “less favored” among states to have a private right action.
