Law Firm Investigating Privacy Claims After Data Breach at Compliance Company
Carruth Compliance Consulting has engaged class action law firm Edelson Lechtzin to investigate possible privacy violation claims resulting from a data breach that Carruth found in some of its computer systems, the law firm said Thursday. Carruth provides administrative support to public school districts and non-profit organizations for managing retirement plans.

Carruth became aware on Dec. 21 that an unauthorized party had gained access to its confidential employee data between Dec. 19 and Dec. 26, 2024, according to a notice on the company's website. The information that was potentially compromised includes social security numbers, medical billing information, tax filings and driver’s licenses, the notice said. Carruth said it began notifying impacted organizations on Jan. 13.
"When we became aware of this event, we promptly took steps to investigate the activity. Further, we notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation. We are also offering individuals access to credit monitoring and identity restoration services, through IDX, free of charge."
