Among other issues, the regulator said, the authorities discussed the competitive analysis of the AI sector in light of a June 2024 Competition Authority opinion on generative AI; and how to legally train AI models under the General Data Protection Regulation following the European Data Protection Board's opinion on the subject (see 2412180004).

The talks illustrate the willingness of the two agencies to maintain extensive cooperation, CNIL said. The recent AI Action Summit in Paris showed that maintaining healthy competition and adopting trusted AI practices for users "are necessary for the competitiveness of our economy and bringing benefits to our citizens."
