Okla. House Supports Bill Requiring Social Media Data Protection Impact Assessments

The Oklahoma House voted 75-14 Tuesday to pass a bill (HB-1388) that would require social media companies to complete data protection impact assessments on how their platforms might influence children. The bill goes next to the Senate.

HB-1388 cleared a committee on March 6 (see 2503060022). Sponsor Rep. Toni Hasenbeck (R) said at a hearing last month that she based the legislation on a similar measure in New Mexico (see 2502190078).
