Va. Governor Signs Reproductive Health Privacy Bill, Seeks Changes to Social Media Bill
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) on Monday signed SB-754, which would update the Virginia Consumer Protection Act to prohibit obtaining, disclosing, selling or disseminating personally identifiable reproductive or sexual health information without a consumer’s consent.

However, Youngkin recommended changes to SB-854, which seeks to require social media platforms to conduct age verification and set a one-hour daily time limit for users younger than 16, unless they have parental consent for more time. Youngkin asked to add a requirement that platforms disable infinite scrolling and auto-playing videos on minors’ accounts.
On Friday, Youngkin signed a student data privacy bill (SB-1486). The governor Monday vetoed a bill to regulate high-risk AI systems (see 2503250010).
