The Utah App Store Accountability Act, by Sen. Todd Weiler (R), requires that app stores verify users’ ages and obtain parental consent for minors younger than 18. Meta, which supports such measures, has been at odds with Apple and Google on the Utah bill and legislation like it in other states (see 2503130035). Congress is also considering such a bill (see 2503260068).

In addition, Cox signed a teachers’ privacy bill (HB-124) Wednesday.
