Federal Judge Sets May 7 Deadline for 23andMe Bids
Companies have until May 7 to bid on the purchase of 23andMe and its assets, including sensitive genetic data associated with 15 million users, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri said in a Friday filing.

State attorneys general suggested users delete their accounts after the company initiated bankruptcy proceedings (see 2503240046). French privacy watchdog CNIL on Friday posted advice on how users can erase their personal data (see 2503280011). U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Brian Walsh scheduled a final hearing on the potential sale for June 17.
The company said in its initial announcement that there will be “no changes to customer data management and access.” Any buyer will need to comply with all applicable data protection laws, the company said.
Walsh said in the filing that potential bidders should “describe, in as much specificity and as soon as practically feasible, the scope of Company Assets” envisioned in the sale.
