Its statement was in conjunction with the release of its management board scorecard for Q3 2025, which showed there were 746 more complaints filed in October-December 2024 than during the same period in 2023.
The watchdog acknowledged that people seeking its help were frustrated, but said it's committed to meeting its target of replying to 80% of complaints within 90 days. Several actions are planned, such as recruiting additional staff and using automated tools for some administrative work to deal with the growing number of complaints, it said.
The corporate scorecard ensures the ICO is transparent about its performance and delivery with customers and stakeholders, and with those who hold it accountable, it added.
