Swedish DPA Audits Search Services for GDPR Breaches

Sweden's National Agency for Privacy Protection is auditing two search services that publish information about violations of the law, it announced Wednesday. The watchdog said it has received many complaints about search services that publish personal data about the population, especially information on criminal offenses and convictions.

The agency will examine whether the businesses are violating the General Data Protection Regulation when they publish information about law violations in searchable databases. The country's Supreme Court has ruled that it's incompatible with EU law for large amounts of criminal convictions to be disclosed in order to be made available in databases.

The two companies are Legal Newsdesk Sweden AB with the site Lexbase.se and Fuplex AB with the site krimfup.se.
