Senators voted 21-3 Monday for SB-611, less than a week after the bill was introduced and one week after the U.S. District Court for Western Arkansas ruled that the social media law was unconstitutional (see 2504010044).
Then on Tuesday, the Senate voted 33-0 for a companion bill allowing for private lawsuits against Big Tech (SB-612). The bill cleared a Senate committee the previous day (see 2504070008).
The House referred SB-611 to its Insurance and Commerce Committee. Arkansas Sen. Tyler Dees (R) filed both bills April 2 on behalf of Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R).
