Cruz on Monday said he’s investigating whether FPF used federal grants to push for AI laws aligned with the Biden administration’s regulatory agenda (see 2504070074).

“Future of Privacy Forum is a non-partisan think tank that works with companies and policymakers to help find pragmatic solutions to support the benefits of emerging technologies, including AI,” the organization said. “Over 90% of our funding comes from the private sector. Our National Science Foundation and Department of Energy grants are to support efforts to advance privacy enhancing technologies, which are often essential to accessing data sets that are otherwise unavailable. These projects are fully compliant with President Trump’s executive orders. We will work with Senator Cruz and his team to answer their questions.”
