In addition, the EC opened public consultations on the Cloud and AI Development Act and its Apply AI strategy, with comments on both due June 4. A third proceeding on Data Union Strategy will commence this May, the EC said.
“Bolstering AI innovation … requires access to large volumes of high-quality data,” the EC said. “An important element of the Action Plan is the creation of Data Labs, bringing together and curating large, high-quality data volumes from different sources in AI Factories. A comprehensive Data Union Strategy will be launched in 2025 to create a true internal market for data that can scale up AI solutions.”
The EC said it’s already deployed 13 supercomputer AI factories, aimed at helping startups, industry and researchers develop AI models and applications.
In addition, the EC said its plans include launching an AI Act Service Desk this summer that will “help businesses comply with the AI Act. It will serve as the central point of contact and hub for information and guidance on the AI Act.”
