The regulator will focus on data protection in smart monitoring, prioritizing actions with the greatest impact, it said. In the area of technological innovation, it proposed a privacy and technology laboratory in collaboration with reference centers, universities and other European authorities.
Another focus is on cooperation and strategic influence, the DPA said. It wants stronger partnerships at the national and international levels and integrated data protection in key sectors.
The regulator also wants to facilitate regulatory compliance, with special attention to small and mid-sized enterprises, and to boost the role of privacy professionals. Other proposed priorities are improving its digital transformation to help provide better services; and to develop tools and channels of collaboration with professional sectors to anticipate emerging risks.
The consultation ends May 11 and publication of the final plan is expected in July.
