There's increasing interest in AI systems that can potentially recognize emotions, the DPA said. These systems form judgments about people's emotional state based on biometric data such as facial expressions, sweating or heart rhythm.

The DPA asked those who want to share their experiences with emotion AI on devices for private use or during customer contact with an organization to contact it by May 6. It stressed it doesn't want information about the use of emotion recognition in the workplace or schools, because such uses were banned in February.
