Ala. House Passes Comprehensive Privacy Bill

The Alabama House approved a comprehensive privacy bill Tuesday on an overwhelming 101-0 vote. The legislation now moves to the Senate, where it needs approval before it reaches the governor's desk for signature.

HB-283, introduced by Rep. Mike Shaw (R), would give consumers the right to confirm a controller is processing their personal data, correct any inaccuracies in the data or delete it, obtain a copy of the data and opt out of processing of the data. Consumers could also designate an authorized agent to exercise their rights (see 2502140035).
