SB-416, the Personal Privacy Protection Act, would also allow a nonprofit or its members to seek relief in court if their personal information is unlawfully produced.

An amendment was drafted in collaboration with state agencies, the attorney general's office and others to ensure they can carry out their statutory duties while still complying with the bill, said Sen. Warren Daniel (R), a sponsor. The committee passed the amendment and the bill through voice votes. The approval means the bill could soon go to the floor.
