Proposed Changes to Oregon Privacy Law Near Finish Line
An Oregon Senate panel Tuesday cleared a House-passed bill requiring carmakers to follow state privacy laws concerning collecting and using drivers' personal data (see 2504140015). Without objection, the Senate Labor Committee agreed to send HB-3875 to the floor.

A day earlier, the Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimony but didn’t vote on another possible change (HB-2008) to Oregon’s comprehensive privacy law. The House last month unanimously passed legislation that would prohibit processing, profiling or selling data of a consumer that a controller knows is younger than 16. It would also ban selling precise geolocation data that shows the location of a consumer within 1,750 feet.
Oregon's legislative session is set to end June 30.
