FSF Calls for FTC-Enforced Privacy Law Without Private Right of Action

Congress should pass a federal privacy law that grants the FTC exclusive enforcement authority and doesn’t include a private right of action, Free State Foundation’s Andrew Long said Friday.

Long noted that House Commerce Committee Republicans have renewed a push for a privacy law through their GOP working group and issued a request for information (see 2504240049). He noted that more than 250 groups commented on the RFI, including CTIA, the Computer & Communications Industry Association and USTelecom.
