A Texas measure requiring that app stores verify a user's age is headed to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott (R) after the legislature passed it Wednesday. Texas senators voted 30-1 to concur with changes to SB-2420 that the House made when it passed the bill 132-10 last week (see 2505090025).
In Nebraska, the unicameral legislature voted 46-3 Wednesday to pass LB-383. The bill was presented to Gov. Jim Pillen (R) the same day. Pillen and Attorney General Mike Hilgers (R) endorsed it back in January (see 2501220041). LB-383 would require social media platforms to verify ages and not allow those younger than 18 to have accounts unless their parents give consent.
