The discussion is crucial to ensuring that the Children's Online Privacy Code responds to their needs and experiences, OAIC said. The code will set out how online services such as social media, messaging apps and cloud storage sites must protect youngsters' privacy. The new rules will be in place by Dec. 10, 2026, the office said.
The office published worksheets for children in different age groups, a discussion paper for parents and caretakers, and a lesson plan and presentation for teachers. Comments are due June 30.
