The House previously supported a pared-down version of HB-149 by Republican Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (see 2504240017). However, the House must vote again on concurring with three Senate amendments adopted Friday.
On the Senate floor Friday, Sen. Charles Schwertner (R) said the bill offers an “outcomes-based approach to the regulation of AI,” which focuses on “clearly-defined harms that also affords companies the flexibility to innovate around those concerns.”
U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz, R-Texas, condemned the original version of TRAIGA as "heavy-handed" in an April 7 statement (see 2504070074).
