New Oklahoma Law Protects State Officials' Privacy

An Oklahoma bill aimed at protecting the privacy of state officials became law Thursday without the signature of Gov. Kevin Stitt (R). HB-2289 previously received unanimous votes in the House and Senate.

HB-2289 expands an existing state law covering judges to include elected federal officials based in Oklahoma and current state officials elected statewide. Also, the bill removes from the definition of “covered information” social security and driver license numbers, as well as home addresses displayed on voter registrations.
