Ark. Supreme Court Rules Deceptive Trade Case Against TikTok Can Continue

The Arkansas Supreme Court on Thursday ruled against TikTok's request that a case alleging the social media platform violated the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act be dismissed. A state circuit court had previously denied a motion to dismiss the case, which TikTok appealed to the Arkansas Supreme Court, asking to halt the case.

Arkansas' Attorney General filed his complaint in October 2023, claiming unjust enrichment in addition to 11 counts of violations of the state Deceptive Trade Practices Act. The case will now proceed in the Cleburne County Circuit Court, the AG's office said.

"This moves us one step closer to holding TikTok accountable for deceiving Arkansans, especially children and their parents," said AG Tim Griffin (R) in a press release.
