The MoU ensures secure cross-border data transfers and protects individuals' data protection rights, the organizations said. They agreed to set up a framework in several key areas, including sharing relevant regulatory information, best practices and complaint-handling processes. They also agreed to cooperate in investigations and enforcement of data-protection violations.
Under the agreement, the parties will explore joint education and awareness initiatives for data privacy and capacity-building initiatives such as staff exchanges, they said. They'll also provide mutual assistance in emerging cross-border privacy challenges in their respective jurisdictions.
The partnership "signals a forward-looking commitment" to lay the groundwork for greater cooperation and innovation "in privacy regulation across international financial centers and shape the future of responsible data governance on the global stage."
