Brazilian DPA Opens Application Period for AI Regulatory Sandbox

Brazilian data protection authority ANPD is accepting applications until Aug. 10 to participate in a regulatory sandbox on AI, it announced June 27. The pilot is intended to promote experimentation with innovative techniques, technologies or business models that enhance algorithmic transparency.

The sandbox runs until December 2026. A committee of ANPD staff will vet projects based on:

  • Involvement in activities related to personal data processing and development of innovative AI systems.
  • Being at a development stage.
  • Promoting algorithmic transparency, process, technological products and services.
  • Presenting positive impacts for society.

ANPD will publish the final list of approved subjects beginning on Oct. 2, it said.
