The agency's first semi-annual report showed intense activity throughout its departments to respond to the growing challenges of the digital environment, it said.

During the period analyzed, AEPD said it upped its work in strategic areas such as support for regulatory compliance, care for vulnerable groups and follow-up to the EU AI Act. In addition to the rise in complaints filed, AEPD also consulted on the use of AI in public management, legal advice and biomedical research.

The document also cites figures for the number of data breaches reported and discusses AEPD's continued work on protecting minors.

Internationally, the agency participated in more than 70 subgroup meetings of the European Data Protection Committee along with leading initiatives in the Ibero-American Data Protection Network, with a focus on the ethical challenges of AI, neuro-rights and protections against digital violence, it noted.
