"Analysis revealed that data was retrieved by the threat actor during a small window of time before the access was cut off," Google said in a Tuesday update to a June 4 blog post. "The data retrieved by the threat actor was confined to basic and largely publicly available business information, such as business names and contact details."

Google also said it "responded to the activity, performed an impact analysis and began mitigations" following the breach, but didn't detail when it was discovered. The company also noted the database "was used to store contact information and related notes for small and medium businesses." It didn't say how many people were affected.
