KLM, Air France Say No Sensitive Information Stolen in Data Breach

KLM and Air France reported data breaches to Dutch and French data protection authorities, respectively, according to a KLM news release and an Air France email to affected customers this week.

The airlines said customer data was illegally accessed, but no sensitive information -- like passwords or passport or credit card numbers -- was stolen. Air France specified that the data might include first names, contact details and subject lines of service request emails. “A fraudster gained limited access to a third-party system that is used by Air France,” it said.

Both airlines said they quickly stopped the unauthorized access and took measures to prevent a recurrence. However, they also advised customers to be on alert for suspicious contacts.
