US, International Partners Issue Cyber Guidance for Critical Infrastructure
Operational technology (OT) owners should create an asset inventory to maintain cybersecurity across all critical infrastructure sectors, U.S. agencies said Wednesday in joint guidance issued with officials in Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency partnered with the EPA, NSA and FBI on the guidance.
The document outlines a process for developing an asset inventory and taxonomy. “This process includes defining scope and objectives for the inventory, identifying assets, collecting attributes, creating a taxonomy, managing data, and implementing asset life cycle management,” the document says. “These steps define a thorough and systematic approach to creating and maintaining an OT asset inventory and OT taxonomy, enabling organizations to maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of their OT assets.”
