Texas House Overwhelmingly Supports Banning Kids From Social Media

A bill to ban Texas kids younger than 18 from using social media received overwhelming support Wednesday in the state House. Lawmakers voted 116-25 for HB-186. The bill will now go to the Senate.

The House Trade Committee previously cleared the measure (see 2504020060) despite First Amendment concerns that the American Civil Liberties Union raised during a hearing last month (see 2503190040). On Tuesday, the House passed a bill requiring mental health warnings on social media (see 2504290062).
